Brand-Aid: What Is A Brand?

As defined by Entrepreneur, a brand is the marketing practice of creating a name, symbol or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products.

Products speak to your situation. In many cases of business, corporations, politicians, athletes and entertainers, their product(s) is/are themselves. Meaning, you are your brand...your brand is you.

So given the definition and the substitution of products and you....the revised definition of a brand is the marketing practice of creating a name, symbol logo, or design visual presentation that identifies and differentiates products you from others.

What makes you stand out....what makes you more likely to be chosen over the other competition in your field? What about what you do, who you are, your image and your brand draws your target demographic/consumer/listener/voter to you? These are the questions that need to be assessed when deciding to brand yourself. Your brand is your promise to your market of who you are, what they can expect and what they perceive you to be.

A brand is vital component of success...later this week we will discuss parts to a brand, why a brand is important and then we will delve into the image aspect of it.
