A skin care regimen for dry skin should aid in maintaining your nature moisture, add extra moisture, and prevent and treat the skin conditions.
Step 1-Cleanse your skin without over drying it: The first step of the dry skin regimen is to remove all makeup so that a moisturizer can effectively penetrate into the skin. A good makeup remover gets rid of all dirt, makeup, and excessive oils without striping nature moisture from the skin. Use a gentle, soap-free cleanser such as Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash or Cetaphil. Rinse your face with lukewarm water. Hot water can cause broken capillaries. Gently pat almost dry with a towel, rather than rubbing.
Step 2- Exfoliate and Mask Your Skin (1x/week): Exfoliate ashy, flaky skin with a non-abrasive exfoliant once a week. Moisturizer is more effective on properly exfoliated skin. Non-abrasive exfoliants contain ingredients such as ground cornmeal, almond, lactic acid and peach extract which are suitable for dry skin. Don’t overdo the scrubbing because doing so causes skin irritation. Also, hydrate and soothe the skin by applying one of a moisturizing mask once a week.
Step 3- Tone: Use an alcohol free toner to restore the pH balance of the skin.
Step 4- Moisturize: Apply moisturizer immediately after cleansing (when your skin is still damp) to seal in the moisture from the water. Choose a moisturizer that is hypoallergenic because this type of skin is likely to become itchy and irritated easily. Effective moisturizers for dry skin contain glycerin, mineral oil, linoleic acid or ceramides.
Happy skin journey to you!!
